While it has long been expected that Joe Maddon would not return to the Cubs, it's still one of those moves that shows the frailty of this business, this job. He won a World Series with the Chicago Cubs. Again: He won a championship with the Cubs.
Three years later, he is out.

If you ask me Maddon is one of the most overrated managers in the game.
First of all he gets credit for Tampa Bay’s “success,” which they never won anything so if you’re into coming up short then I guess he deserves credit for that.
Secondly a cardboard cutout of Madden could have managed the Cubs to a World Series. In fact, he almost managed them out of that victory.
Theo Epstein deserves all of the credit for the Cubs’ success.
