Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers was arrested on Friday night for possession of marijuana. The arrest couldn’t have come at a worse time for the 24 year old.
The Cowboys will make their final roster cuts on Saturday and before the incident Gathers had a good shot at making the team.
Via Sports Day:
Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers was arrested Friday night in Frisco for possession of marijuana less than 24 hours before the club makes its final roster cuts.
Gathers was arrested about 10 p.m. in the 3100 block of Parkwood Blvd., according to Frisco public information officer James Willis.
Frisco police officers were in the area and smelled marijuana coming from a parked car, Willis said, then found Gathers to be in possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana. Gathers spent Friday night in jail before bonding out at about 10 a.m. Saturday.
It is the Cowboys, so an arrest doesn’t necessarily mean that Gathers will be cut. Still the timing for the arrest could have been better.
