The NFL’s Competition Committee wanted to further protect the league’s quarterbacks, in large part to an injury sustained by Aaron Rodgers after he was landed on following a hit. The result has been many ridiculous roughing the passer calls.
According to NFL.com’s Judy Battista, many members of the Competition Committee aren’t happy with the way the roughing the passer penalties that are being called. This was clearly not how they envisioned the penalty being enforced.
When this point of emphasis was made in March, this is clearly not how the Comp. Committee envisioned it. Question may be how Roger Goodell views it and what tweaks can be made that don't diminish the player safety part of it while also eliminating the gratuitous calls.

Someone needs to pass the news up to Roger Goodell. This needs to be fixed ASAP. The NFL is becoming a joke with the amount of roughing the passer penalties that are being called.
