Retired running back Clinton Portis, who played nine seasons with the Broncos and Redskins, sat down with Kristine Leahy for her FS1 show “Fair Game.” During his appearance on the show the two talked about his costumes and an interesting pregame routine.
The two-time Pro Bowler, who had six 1,000+ yard rushing seasons during his career, used to take shots of Hennessy before games. Because the games were a “turn-up” and according to Portis it was better than taking a shot of pain medicine.
Portis makes a pretty good argument for taking shots of Hennessy before stepping on the field. I’ve often heard the game of football be described as a turn-up. It only makes sense that you put forward your best efforts after a little Henny.
We need more guys like Clinton Portis in the NFL.
