Free agent linebacker Clay Matthews signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday. The 32-year-old former Packer spent his entire career up to this point in Green Bay.
Matthews will earn just under $17 million on his new deal, a deal that brings him closer to home in California.
Two-year deal for LB Clay Matthews with the #Rams worth a max of $16.75 million, source says. He had more lucrative offers on the table but he just welcomed his third child and really wanted to play close to home. Plus, a shot at another ring doesn’t hurt.

The Packers were willing to let him walk because it is very clear to everyone, except the Rams, that his best years are behind him. His 3.5 sacks last year for the Packers underscores that point quite nicely.
But hey, at least they get a guy who knows how to keep his hair wet at all times. That’s a very valuable skill to have.
