Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale will get the ball in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Yankees on Friday night. It will be the rivals first postseason meeting since 2004, when Boston made history by overcoming a three game deficit to advance to and win their first World Series since 1918.
Sale held a press conference with the media on Thursday and was asked about his success this season against the Yankees. Rather than talk about his 2-0 record with 19 strikeouts in 13 innings against the Bronx Bombers, he simply said, “no.”

Sale could be hesitant to talk about that success against the Yankees, because he knows it doesn’t matter in the postseason and he also knows that he has struggled in the postseason. Both are pretty good reasons to keep quiet.
