Chris Paul makes a lot of money.
He signed a 4 year / $159,730,592 contract with the Houston Rockets, including $159,730,592 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $39,932,648. In 2019-20, Paul will earn a base salary of $38,506,482, while carrying a cap hit of $38,506,482 and a dead cap value of $38,506,482.
The 34-year-old is set to make a total of $124 million over the next three seasons, a huge number, which is why the Thunder are having a difficult time finding a trading partner.
During an interview with The Athletic’s Clevis Murray, Paul explained how discussing finances in the locker room can be unsettling.
