The autopsy, obtained by the Austin American-Statesman,
Determined Benson’s blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.02 at the time of the accident in Austin. Texas’ legal limit to drive is 0.08.
The level of THC found in his system, meanwhile, did not clearly indicate to experts who spoke with the American-Statesman whether it would have been enough to impair his driving.
They were also uncertain as to when the detected THC — a component of cannabis — might have entered his system, according to the newspaper.
Benson was a member of the Texas Longhorns from 2001-2004 and one of the best college football running backs of all-time.
He finished his career with 5,540 rushing yards and the NCAA’s sixth-leading rusher at the time.
RIP Ced.
