Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco tried to do a nice thing and toss some underhand pitches to one of his children in a time-honored bonding tradition.
Instead, Carrasco took a comebacker to the groin in a moment captured on video and shared Wednesday on Instagram.

Part of his mistake was inviting his kid forward before pitching, lessening the reaction time he had available to get out of the way.
But it was also simply poor defending of his position.
