The Cardinals took on the Marlins on Monday night in St. Louis.  They blanked Miami 5-0 for their sixth win in their last eight games.

During the win Matt Carpenter stole a double by beating an extreme shift with a bunt down the third base line.

There was nobody on that side of the field and the pitcher was force to chase down the bunt allowing Carpenter to take second fairly easily.

It turns out there’s a reason the third baseman and shortstop positions are where they are traditionally.  Who knew putting the entire infield in shallow rightfield would backfire?
