Yankees veteran lefthander C.C. Sabathia joined the 3,000 strikeout club on Tuesday night in Arizona. The 38-year-old is the 17th pitcher to join the club and just the 3rd lefty to make it into one of the game’s most exclusive groups.
Sabathia fanned his former teammate and friend, Diamondbacks catcher John Ryan Murphy, for the record setting K.

Baseball loves its stats and this is one that cements a pitcher’s career. It’s just another accomishment to add to Sabathia’s Hall of Fame resume. He’s already a Cy Young Award winner and World Series champion with a few strong postseason runs.
