If the fans in Philadelphia didn’t already love Bryce Harper signing a 13-year deal with the Phillies, they will now. He has some big plans for his time with the franchise.
Harper hinted at those big plans during his introductory press conference. Not only does he want to raise his family in Philadelphia, he wants to recruit players to come to the city and that includes Mike Trout.

Harper all but mention Trout’s name during the press conference when he talked about the signing of a free agent in a couple of years. On Tuesday he took is a step further and mentioned Trout by name.
While in the visiting the Phillies radio booth during a spring training game on Tuesday, Harper admitted that he will definitely be reaching out to Trout in an attempt to get him to join the Phillies in 2020.
Major League Baseball could let the comment in his press conference slide, but I highly doubt they will be able to let this one go unpunished. Harper can expect a fine for tampering, but it doesn’t take back the fact that he wants some more big names on an already decent roster.
