Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez has been on the disabled list since June 21st with a bruised right index finger.  He kept how he suffered the injury a secret for fear of being laughed at.

It turns out he got the finger stuck in his suitcase…

Via ESPN:

“It got stuck in my suitcase and it started falling,” Sanchez said. “It all happened in a span of about 30 seconds. I said `Ow,’ and my knuckle got super fat. I pitched that day, probably didn’t help, but it was the first time I was going to pitch in front of my family as a professional, and I wanted to see what I could do.”

“I didn’t want to say it then because I saw Salvador Perez go down with the same injury and I didn’t want to get laughed at.”

Nobody suffers odd injuries quite like baseball players.  Pretty soon they won’t be allowed to handle their own luggage or walk into the stadium on their own.  They will be bubble wrapped and carted into the stdium and carefully unwrapped in the clubhouse.
