Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has received a ton of heat for Jacksonville’s three game losing streak. He was even benched during a 20-7 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
In a recent interview Bortles talked about being the Jaguars scapegoat and blocking out the haters, via NFL.com:
“I totally understand that I’m like the scapegoat for this team. When we play good, ‘The defense played well, the running back did good, the receivers made great plays.’ And when we play bad, ‘Blake Bortles is the worst quarterback on the face of the planet.'”
“And I get it. Obviously, that’s not what I would have chosen for myself. And I’m sure it’ll never stop. But I couldn’t care less. I just want to win football games with this team.”
Bortles isn’t wrong. When the Jaguars win, it’s their defense, when they lose it’s almost always him catching the blame. Jacksonville has to get things back on track if he wants to avoid taking the heat.
The Jaguars have a good opportunity to get things moving in the right direction against the hungover Eagles in London.
