Blackhawks’ Chris Kunitz laid out and opened up a cut on Flames’ Travis Hamonic with a vicious elbow over the weekend. The hit sent Hamonic to the locker room for medical attention and Kunitz to the locker room for an early shower.
After the Kunitz ejection the Flames scored two goals twice during the five-minute power play that followed and won the game 3-2.
In addition to the hit costing Blackhawks the game, it could end up costing Kunitz a couple of games in the form of a suspension. He’s handed out his fair share of dirty hits in the past and this hit is just about as dirty as it gets in the NHL.
