Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had an opportunity to speak out on the Le’Veon Bell situation on Wednesday and towed the company line, instead focusing on the regular-season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
While Roethlisberger conceded Bell, who hasn’t signed his $14.5 million franchise tag, is one of the best players in the league, the quarterback pointed out the offense remains in good hands if Bell isn’t on the field.

Football is indeed a team sport, but statistics show the Steelers are way better when Bell is on the field. He’s one of the best in the game, so don’t fool yourself into believing a word Big Ben is saying.
Steelers’ QB Ben Roethlisberger said he is proceeding as if James Conner will be Pittsburgh’s starting RB Sunday at Cleveland. Wise move. If we haven’t seen Bell by now, why would we see him the rest of this week?
