The benches cleared on Friday night in Milwaukee after a force play at second base. Hernan Perez of the Brewers laid down a bunt that went right back to Cardinals pitcher Jordan Hicks. He turned and threw the ball to second base, where Eric Sogard slid into Yairo Munoz.
There was nothing dirty about the slide and the throw from Hicks didn’t do Munoz any favors. The two had words leading to the benches clearing. If Munoz was upset with the slide then he’s too soft to play a professional sport. The same applies to Sogard if he had an issue with Munoz landing on him.
It was just an all around incredibly soft play. There should be a new rule that punches have to be thrown if the benches clear. No more of this hugging and talking.
