Things got heated on Tuesday night at a Minor League Baseball game between the Hartford Yard Goats and the Trenton Thunder. The benches cleared in the 9th inning after a no-hitter was broken up by a bunt.
The Thunder’s Matt Lipka laid down a bunt with one out in the 9th and reached base successfully for the first hit.

The Yard Goats got upset by the bunt and the two sides came together to discuss the matter.

What is lost in the whole thing is the fact that Hartford was on their fourth pitcher at the time of the bunt base hit. Therefore, a real no-hitter wasn’t broken up and there was no need for the benches to clear.
Bunting to break up a no-hitter with one pitcher is a dick move, but no-hitters with multiple pitchers aren’t a real thing.
