Cubs second baseman Ben Zobrist hasn’t been with the team since he took a leave back in early May for personal reasons. The personal reasons turned out to be marital issues that have the Zobrists heading for divorce.
According to Cubs Manager Joe Maddon, Zobrist’s leave could cause him to miss the rest of the season.
“I have to think that way, absolutely,” Maddon told reporters ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Astros. “I hope that’s not the case. But he’s at the point now where if he chose to come back, it’s going to take him a while to get back up to speed, too. We have to mentally be prepared that we will not have him.”
It sucks for Zobrist. The Cubs are doing just fine without him and he is going through it off the field.
