NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Chicago Bears have decided to release kicker Cody Parkey. Some would say the move is a few months too late.
The former Pro Bowl kicker made just 23 of his 30 field goal attempts during the regular season last year. He also missed a game winning attempt in the NFC Wildcard game against the Eagles.
That playoff miss was the final straw for the Bears. Don’t feel bad for Parkey, he’s still going to be paid $3.5 million by Chicago next season and will probably find another team to miss field goals for.
The #Bears have decided to release K Cody Parkey at the start of the league year, sources say. A fresh start is welcomed by both parties, and the Pro Bowler will likely find work quickly. He’s still due $3.5M guaranteed on his 2019 contract.

Hopefully Parkey gets a chance to kick against the Bears. The team paying a player on the other team is one of my favorite storylines in sports.
