They don’t make them like Bartolo Colon anymore. The Texas Rangers right hander turns 45 later this month and took a 102 MPH line drive to the stomach like it was nothing.
Colon not only wasn’t at all fazed by the liner, he made the play and threw the hitter out. He would stay in the game, recording 7 2/3 innings of work while giving up no runs.
After the game, Colon credited his big belly with allowing him to shake off the 100+ MPH line drive. It turns out that’s the best place to hit him if he’s not able to get his glove on it.
"It hit me more on the side than in the middle. I have a lot of big belly, so I can take it." – Bartolo Colon after getting hit by a 102 mph line drive today. #legend

A ball hit that hard would have knocked a lesser man out of the game.
