In the modern version of the popular Madden video game, players don’t just keep the ratings they receive at the start of the season. Madden’s team adjusts those ratings based on performance throughout the season.
For instance, prior to Week 6, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson had moved up two ratings points to a 95 overall. His teammate, running back Chris Carson was up one point to an 86. Those are numbers sure to only go up after both of their performances against the Browns on Sunday.
Baker Mayfield is the complete opposite. The Browns QB began the season with an overall rating of 83. Some thought that was low. However, Mayfield’s overall rating dropped to an 80 after the Browns’ blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.
Mayfield’s Awareness rating is down to a 75 (which is pretty bad). His accuracy could take a hit too after this weekend. Mayfield now has the same ratings as the Oakland Raiders’ Derek Carr and is two spots lower than Cam Newton, who isn’t even playing right now.
The worst part about Baker’s awful play is his turnovers in the red zone.
That’s a terrible sign that he’s just not that clutch. . .
