Following the success of the Melbourne Cup in November, Australia’s sporting scene isn’t closing anytime soon. That is if the new COVID-19 variant Omicron doesn’t impose too much damage to the county.

If everything pushes through as planned, the country will be hosting the entire leg of the Vodafone Men’s Ashes Series, happening from December 8 until January 22. Fans are likely to witness this exciting cricket tournament featuring five Test Series between arch-rivals Australia and England.

Here’s what fans should know about the upcoming, most revered biennial cricket tournament series:

1. Where Can You Buy The Ashes Cricket Games 2021/2022 Tickets?

The Ashes Cricket Test series happens every two years between these two countries, as has been since its inception in 1882. As such, there’s ample time for organizers, players, and spectators to prepare.

The Australian Cricket Family (ACF) was first to have access to tickets beginning June 30. Ashes Cricket Test series tickets were made available to the public on July 5. If you still haven’t gotten yours, try visiting Cricket Australia’s Travel Office, or CATO, to see whether there are tickets left.

2. When And Where Will The Ashes 2021/2022 Cricket Test Tournaments Be Held?

As mentioned, there’ll be five cricket matches happening in the following locations:

  • Match 1: December 8 to12, at the Gabba, Brisbane
  • Match 2: December 16 to 20, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
  • Match 3: December 26 to 30, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
  • Match 4: January 5 to 9, 2022, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney
  • Match 5: January 14 to 18, 2022, at the Optus Stadium, Perth

Don’t forget that a Women’s Ashes Test series is also happening on January 27, 2022. It’ll kick off in Canberra. Both the Australian Men and Women’s Ashes teams were declared tournament champions in 2019.

3. Which Team Is Leading?

In 2019, the series ended with a draw, but the team from Down Under managed to retain the trophy. Australia won the first match by 251 runs, only to draw on the second test. England won by one wicket in the third game, while Australia excelled by 185 runs in the fourth game. The fifth game went to England, who won by 135 runs.

The overall tally records show a close rivalry, with Australia winning 33 times in the series versus England’s 32 wins. There has been six drawn series as of 2019. In terms of the number of Ashes Tests won, Australia leads at 135. This figure is 28 more than England’s 108 victories.

4. Who Will Win The Ashes Cricket Test Games 2021/2022?

As sports experts would often say, it’s anybody’s ball game at this stage. However, England will likely be working doubly hard to take home the crown that evaded them in 2019. But, as with other instances, beating the team with the homecourt advantage is never easy. With this, online betting sites will undoubtedly get busy once again. If you’re a seasonal bettor, consider placing your wager on online betting sites for cricket.

5. Who Made It To The Australian Ashes Test Team 2021/2022?

Mid-November, the 15-man Australian team was introduced to the public. Coach Justin Langer helms the team. Cummins, the former vice-captain of the Test squad, replaced former Test captain Tim Paine, who decided to take an indefinite leave after being embroiled in a sexting scandal.

Athletes who led the 2019 Australian team including Marcus Harris, Usman Khawaja, and Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith will try to retain the crown for the Ashes Cricket Test games 2021/2022.

6. Who’s Playing For England’s Ashes Test Team 2021/2022?

In October, England identified its 18- man Ashes Test squad, with Joe Root as the captain. Coach Chris Silverwood will try to steer the team to victory. Ben Stokes, one of England’s strongest players, was belatedly included after a finger injury. He has since managed to recover.  The team will also see the re-entry of Ashes 2019 players, such as James Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Chris Woakes.

7. What If The Live Audience For Ashes Series Is Banned?

There might be chances of a spectator-less Ashes series. If the 80,000-strong crowd is prohibited from showing up at the live Ashes tournaments, fans can watch the games online or on their favorite television channels.

Every leg of the Ashes Cricket Test games will be shown for free via Channel 7 and Channel 9 in Australia. Fans from the other corners of the world can view the competition via online app streaming and pay TV channels.

Final Thoughts

This year, the sports rivalry between England and Australia takes the headlines once again during the two-month-long Ashes Cricket Test games. If everything pushes through as planned, fans can expect a lot of action coming from England, who wishes to take home the tiniest urn in the sports world. At the same time, team Australia will give their best shot at holding on to the title.
