After his defense gave up 272 yards passing and four touchdowns to Houston Roughnecks quarterback P.J. Walker in a 37-17 loss, the Los Angeles Wildcats fired defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Pepper Johnson.

The 37 points was the most given up by an XFL team in the opening weekend of play.
