A late rally led the New York Mets to a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in Thursday’s decisive Game 3, advancing them to the NLDS.

New York trailed 2-0 in the ninth inning until Pete Alonso drilled a go-ahead three-run home run off All-Star closer Devin Williams.

“This is something that you practice in the backyard as a kid,” Alonso said postgame of his game-winning home run, per MLB. “I’m just happy to come through for the boys.”

Both starters delivered dominant outings.

Jose Quintana turned back the clock, throwing six innings of scoreless ball with five strikeouts for the Mets. Brewers rookie Tobias Myers held New York to just two hits across five innings.

Milwaukee appeared to take control of the contest in the seventh inning when Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick hit back-to-back home runs off José Buttó.

However, the ninth inning quickly unraveled for the Brewers as Williams never got settled. Francisco Lindor walked and advanced to third on a Brandon Nimmo single before Alonso’s home run. Jesse Winker scored an insurance run on a single by Starling Marte.

Williams failed to complete the ninth after allowing four earned runs.

The Mets’ dramatic comeback sets up a star-studded NLDS clash with NL East-rival Philadelphia Phillies.

Milwaukee hasn’t won a postseason series since 2018.

Game 1 between the Mets and Phillies is set for 4:08 p.m. ET Saturday at Citizens Bank Park.
