Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Allen Iverson is apparently going to have to cough up a large sum of money after owing a reported $200,000 in back taxes.
According to The Blast, Iverson has a tax lien placed against him by Georgia Department of Revenue for the years of 2012 and 2013.
Court documents show that Iverson owes $25,643.12 from 2012 and 174,465.25 in 2013. The tax debt ballooned to $200,108.37 after being hit with $44,000 in interest and $27,000 in penalties.
Iverson and his wife divorced back in 2013 and was ordered to pay out $3 million in the settlement.
The divorce proceedings revealed Iverson signed a deal with Reebok back in 2001 that put $32 million in a trust that can’t be touched until Iverson turns 55.
Meaning that he’ll be unable to use those funds to cover the tax debt. Iverson just needs to wait it out til he can touch that real green. Hopefully he won’t get too far behind the eight ball.
