Redskins quarterback Alex Smith was carted off of the field after suffering a Joe Theismann-like lower leg injury. The play happened 33-years to the day of the Theismann injury.
Smith was immediately transported to the hospital to have his leg taken care of. It’s a tough break in more ways than one as the Redskins are trying to hold on to the top spot in the NFC East.

Theismann saw Smith’s brutal injury and took to Twitter to let everyone know that it looked a lot like his did over three decades ago.

Redskins fans are hoping Smith’s injury heals better than Theismann’s did, he was never the same after he suffered his gruesome injury. Their season is now in the hands of backup quarterback Colt McCoy.
