Running back Adrian Peterson certainly proved at the age of 33 that he can still play at a high level in the NFL.  He’s already rushed for over 1,000 yards with one game left to play.

Peterson filled in nicely for Derrius Guice, who tore his ACL in the preseason, and is expected to be the Redskins starter next season.

Despite the return of Guice, Peterson says he wants to return to Washington next season, because he still has “a lot left.”

Via ESPN:

“If you watch football, if you know anything about football, then you know that he’s still got a lot left,” Peterson, who turns 34 in March, said of himself. “If you can’t see that, you’re blind.”

After the numbers Peterson put up this season it’s hard to argue with that.  The only problem would be sharing time with the much younger Guice, who would be the team’s featured back.

Peterson was in a similar situation with the Saints last year and that didn’t work out.
