ABC News suspended reporter Matt Gutman for a false report on the fatal helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and 8 others, including one of his daughters. Shortly after the news of the accident broke he reported that Kobe and all four of his children were on the helicopter.
It turned out that only Kobe’s 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, was on the helicopter at the time of the crash. Gutman later realized that he had made a mistake and apologized both on air and on Twitter.
The apology wasn’t enough for Gutman to avoid discipline from his employer. ABC News announced that he had been suspended for failing to report the facts accurately.
