Tuesday night’s University of Memphis baseball game was canceled after an 8-year-old boy accidentally shot his mother. The incident took place at USA Stadium after the boy found the gun inside of an antique car on display at the stadium.
Via FOX13 Memphis:
According to Millington police, the incident happened around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at USA Stadium, where the Tigers were playing UT Martin.
According to officials, the gun was in an antique car that was on display inside the stadium.
The child got his hands on the gun and accidentally shot his mother, who was rushed to Regional One in critical condition.
The gun owner has been detained. Chief Dunbar tells me it’s too early to know if they will push charges. His department is still investigating. @FOX13Memphis

How does a gun end up being left inside of an antique car? Hopefully the mother makes a full recovery and the 8-year-old isn’t too traumatized by the whole experience.
